Yes. A natural rubber scent is normal and expected with all natural rubber yoga mats, especially when the mat is new.

The scent comes from the natural rubber itself and is not the result of off-gassing from toxic chemicals. Because the eKO Series is made from natural tree rubber, a mild rubber smell may be noticeable at first. While the scent will gradually fade with time and use, it may not disappear completely due to the mat's natural composition.

If you'd like the scent to dissipate more quickly, leave your mat unrolled in a well-ventilated, shaded area and periodically wipe it down with Manduka's Natural Rubber Yoga Mat Restore.

As with all eKO Series mats, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as it can accelerate oxidation and affect the performance of the natural rubber.
