Why does my new PRO Series mat feel different?Updated 9 hours ago
A new PRO Series mat may feel a little different in the beginning as you become familiar with its unique performance surface. With regular use, many practitioners find they feel increasingly connected to the mat, allowing them to focus less on what's beneath them and more on their practice.
While some practitioners refer to this as a "break-in" period, no special preparation is required. We simply recommend practicing on your mat regularly and do not recommend the salt method or other treatments. Over time, your PRO becomes a well-loved part of your practice
The PRO Series features a closed-cell, non-porous surface, which means moisture remains on top of the mat rather than being absorbed. Because of this, practitioners with active or sweatier practices may notice reduced traction when things heat up. For added grip, we recommend pairing your mat with a hand towel or a yoga mat towel. For additional tips on improving grip and reducing slip during practice, check out this blog post.
