How do I clean and care for my GRP® Series mat?Updated 5 months ago

It is crucial to care for your GRP mat properly to maintain its performance and longevity. Mats designed to absorb moisture (GRP® Series) should never be treated with disinfectant as the liquid will be absorbed into the mat and then cannot be thoroughly cleaned out.

We advise against using vinegar, witch hazel, or alcohol for cleaning as they may cause irreversible damage. Avoid home remedies and studio cleaning suggestions as they have not been tested and could harm your mat.

Instead, use our Yoga Mat Wash and Refresh to keep your mat clean and smelling fresh after each practice for optimal care.

To Clean: Spray generously on a clean damp cloth and gently scrub any areas that have dirt or stains. Always dry your GRP® Series mat completely before rolling or using.

Instructions for a Deeper Clean: Wet a clean cloth with water and squeeze out excess water. Pump Yoga Mat Wash and Refresh foam onto damp cloth, apply pressure and wipe down surface of your mat. Use between two to four pumps of restorative solution for each application. Repeat this process until entire mat surface is complete. Rinse cloth thoroughly and wipe down mat with fresh water. Use a dry cloth to soak up any excess water. Hang mat to dry before rolling and storing.

We do not recommend cleaning your mat with a garden hose, vacuuming it, or placing it in a bathtub, shower, or washing machine—doing so may damage your mat beyond repair. Do not use any type of soap for cleaning, as this will also compromise the performance and integrity of the mat.

Additionally, refrain from using lotions, oils, or sunscreen prior to practice as these can be absorbed by the mat and affect grip over time.

If you're practicing on your GRP mat in a non-sweaty or non-heated class and find it lacks grip, a light spritz of water will help activate the moisture-activated grip.

GRP Series yoga mats do not require a break-in period. Please note, the salt method is not intended GRP series, as it will compromise the mat.

The GRP mat should not be exposed to excessive amounts of sunlight.
