The eKO® Series are wrapped in a plastic seal. This is because the eKO® Series is made of a natural tree rubber material which is more sensitive than mats made, for example, of a more synthetic material. Natural rubber mats will oxidize over time with use and care and the oxidization process may speed up when the eKO® Series is exposed to prolonged air or sun exposure. For this reason, we seal the mats to prolong its lifespan. Once you are ready to use the mat the seal can be taken off and be recycled in your nearest local plastic container. The eKO® mats' banderol is made of recyclable plastic, which can also be recycled in a local plastic container.
